AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, and digital cameras. Devices that require higher currents at the same voltage use larger AA type batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with the increasing efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that can accommodate AAA batteries. An AAA battery is 44.5 mm long and has a diameter of 10.5 mm. AAA alkaline batteries each weigh approximately 11.5 grams, while AAA lithium batteries weigh approximately 7.6 grams and rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH) usually weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5 V, while that of Ni-MH or NiCd batteries is 1.2 V. The capacity of alkaline AAA batteries is typically 900 to 1155 mAh (3240 to 4158 coulombs).
